The United States Flag Code states:
“The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
If you have an old flag that is ready for retirement, the Crestwood Fire Department can help. You can place your old flags in a wooden box located in the Whitecliff Community Center vestibule. The fire department will empty the box on a regular basis and properly dispose of all flags placed within.
Thanks to Eagle Scout Jeremy Compton from BSA Troop 580 for constructing and placing this box back in 2012.
