Exciting changes are on the horizon for 9600 Watson Road! Dunkin’ (also known as Dunkin’ Donuts) has plans to open a new location at this site, previously home to IMO’s Pizza. The owner is seeking approval for their site plan, which will be reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Aldermen in December.
If the request is approved, the site will see several upgrades, including enhancements to the drive-thru and improvements to the building and parking lot. The design has only eight indoor dining seats planned, reflective of the grab-and-go nature of their business. And, of course, Dunkin’ coffee, which accounts for roughly 60% of the brand’s nationwide revenue, will be a key feature of the menu.
This location has a long history of hosting restaurants. While I’m no historian, it’s been said you could enjoy a hamburger here during its days as Tobey’s, Henry’s, or even Steak ‘n Shake Jr. There’s even a rumor it once sold donuts, proving that history might just repeat itself. Most recently, it served as IMO’s Pizza until their move to Watson Plaza.
The new Dunkin’ owners have shared plans to open the location in mid-2025, pending approvals.
